Advanced Hysteroscopy

While monthly periods may cause discomfort, they are a perfectly natural part of biology. However, if your period feels unusually heavy and has been ongoing for an abnormal amount of time, seeking help is the right thing to do. At Cohen Medical Practice, we offer advanced hysteroscopy procedures to identify potential problems in the uterus. We understand that the thought of a medical procedure may cause you discomfort. Our New York City team is trained to provide effective healthcare services in a gentle and compassionate manner. We welcome you to book an appointment at one of our NYC centers to get the care you deserve today.

What Is an Advanced Hysteroscopy?

Our advanced hysteroscopy procedure is safe and simple to perform. The process involves an examination of your uterus with a special tiny camera attached to a very thin tube. During the procedure, our medical professionals will use this device to search for polyps, fibroids, scarring, or other abnormalities. If any such concerns are found, we can offer further testing and treatment options to help you feel better again.

The Endosee® Hysteroscopy System

To ensure a safe and efficient procedure, we perform our advanced hysteroscopies using the Endosee® device. The Endosee® Hysteroscopy System is a “See Now, Know Now” device that allows us to visualize the treatment area with never-before-seen clarity. The hand piece’s ergonomic design is easy to hold and operate as well, giving us complete control over the procedure.

What Does an Advanced Hysteroscopy Address?

Our advanced hysteroscopy treatments can be grouped into two categories: diagnostic and operative. A diagnostic hysteroscopy is something we can conduct if you are experiencing heavy menstrual periods and severe cramping. In some cases, we may recommend it in order to gain better insight into the state of your reproductive health. An operative hysteroscopy can be performed to correct various uterine conditions, including the removal of fibroids

How Does This Treatment Work?

The hysteroscopy procedures we perform are done on an outpatient basis under anesthesia. During the procedure, a speculum will be inserted into the vagina to keep it open. Next, the hysteroscope will be inserted through the cervix into the uterus. Saline or gas will then be pushed through the device into the uterus to expand the walls and give us a clear view of the uterine lining and the opening of the fallopian tubes. If surgery or biopsies are needed, small instruments are inserted into the uterus through the hysteroscope.

What Can I Expect?

The advanced hysteroscopy procedures offered at Cohen Medical Practice can be used to remove uterine polyps, fibroids, and scar tissue. Additionally, they can help identify the cause of abnormal bleeding and irregular menstrual flow. These treatments are generally safe and rarely result in side effects.
